Glendale Hip Signal

What do people ask about a sore hip?

Which hip questions need straight answers? Most concern relief, cost, warning signs and when surgery enters the talk.

The answers below give the useful part first. An exam is still needed when the cause isn't clear from the sore area and movements.

How much does PRP, meaning platelet-rich plasma prepared from spun blood, cost for the hip?

There is no single price across clinics. Ask for a written total covering the exam, blood preparation, sore area and later checks.

How do I check a clinic's treatment claims?

Ask what the care contains, who gives it and which people were counted in the results. Don't rely on a knee report, an unnamed success rate or government approval of only a machine.

What is a red flag with hip pain?

Fever with heat and swelling at the hip needs urgent care. So does being unable to stand after a fall, a turned leg, sudden weakness, numb skin or lost bladder or bowel control.

What may help hip soreness without surgery?

Activity changes, gentle strength work, a cane and some medicines may help, depending on the cause. If soreness continues, an exam can sort trouble in the joint from the outer hip or back.

Is PRP worth considering for hip pain?

PRP uses the portion of your spun blood with more platelets, the small blood pieces collected for this care. Ask where that blood portion will be placed, what hip results were found and what the full price includes.

What are signs that it is time to discuss hip replacement?

Discuss surgery when pain at rest, lost sleep and walking limits remain severe. The choice also depends on the exam, X-rays, health and earlier care.

FDA states verbatim that regenerative medicine products including stem cells, stromal vascular fraction, umbilical cord blood, Wharton's jelly, amniotic fluid and exosomes have NOT been approved 'for the treatment of any orthopedic condition, such as osteoarthritis, tendonitis, disc disease, tennis elbow, back pain, hip pain, knee pain, neck pain, or shoulder pain.' The only FDA-approved stem cell products in the United States are blood-forming (hematopoietic progenitor) cells derived from umbilical cord blood, approved only for disorders affecting blood production.

In January 2025 federal court orders permanently banned the co-founders of the Stem Cell Institute of America and related companies from marketing stem cell therapy, and required payment of $5,155,146 in civil penalties and consumer refunds. The court found on summary judgment that the defendants published false and misleading advertisements about the efficacy and approval of stem cell injection treatments for conditions including osteoarthritis and joint pain.

A Bayesian network meta-analysis of 11 randomized trials (1353 patients) in hip osteoarthritis found that at 2-4 months and 6 months NO injectable - corticosteroid, hyaluronic acid or platelet-rich plasma - significantly outperformed a saline placebo injection for pain or function. Pooled change from baseline exceeded the minimal clinically important difference in every arm including placebo.

Pooled analysis of national joint registries (Australia and Finland, 215,676 hip replacements) put 25-year all-cause construct survival at 57.9% (95% CI 57.1-58.7); pooled case series gave 77.6% (95% CI 76.0-79.2). The authors conclude patients and surgeons can expect a hip replacement to last 25 years in around 58% of patients.

A population-based analysis of 63,158 total hip replacements found 10-year implant survival of 95.6% and 20-year survival of 85.0%, but the LIFETIME risk of revision rose sharply with younger age at surgery - about 5% for those operated after 70, up to 35% (95% CI 30.9-39.1) for men in their early 50s, with a median time to revision of 4.4 years in those operated before 60.

What if the soreness doesn't settle?

QC Kinetix offers a visit with medical providers, the clinic team that asks about your health and checks how the hip moves. They explain which sore area each choice is meant for and who would give the care.

Regenerative treatment includes PRP, care that uses a spun portion of your own blood in the sore area. PRP means platelet-rich plasma; spinning the blood gathers its small clot-forming pieces.
